Be aware that if you don't have access to your Security Information (i.e. your old phone number or secondary email), it will take 4 weeks for the updated changes to take effect.

This is to prevent hackers that gained access to your account to add their own recovery information, and then hijack your account.

I'd also recommend you enable Two Step Verification on that website, as this will be a more convenient way to prove your account ownership, and makes it basically impossible for hackers to steal your account.

I don't get this with my Xbox - presumably because I have used the one console since the S came out. But I do see it with purchasing content on my PC.

I believe you can set a console specific password to stop the two-step authentication:

windows.microsoft.com/.../app-passwords-two-step-verification

I'm sure when you verify there is a button that shows "Don't ask again" I had that and never had to verify again.

My wife was having similar issues mate, it only stopped after speaking to Support.
