    Ok, here's the problem. When you purchase a hard drive online it more often than not will be a 3rd party drive with a "official xbox:" sticker slapped onto it. If this is the case the original game will not work because 3rd party drives do not have the
    firmware required to play the game.

    Do you have a friend who you can download the game to his console to try it?
