    My Xbox One has suddenly stopped recognising that my headset is plugged in, help?


    My Xbox One has suddenly stopped recognising that my headset is plugged in, and so, I don't get audio or the audio tab under notifications.

    It was working absolutely fine just the other day, but for some reason has suddenly decided to stop recognising that I have plugged in my headset, therefore I cannot hear any sound or audio whats so ever, and have no way of altering the audio either as the
    tab which is normally available under notifications is gone.

    I have unplugged my headset, and replugged it in multiple times, including turning off my console multiple times as well. I have also turned off the console and unplugged all wires and then reconnect everything, but with no luck. I have only had this Xbox
    and headset for a week, I have also tried multiple different headsets as well.

    Could someone please help?

    Hey there Mog thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us.

    We understand that you're experiencing an issue in reference to the controller's inability to detect any audio jack connected device such as a headset and or earbuds.

    When it comes to this inability, it can either mean the controller firmware would need to be updated, or the controller may need to be replaced.

    The controller can be updated by attempting to follow our update your Xbox One
    controller
    support article, which shows the exact steps to perform this step.

    If the controller is up to date, it may mean that the jack on the actual controller is causing issues with recognition, and the controller would need to be replaced.

    Hello again,

    When you go to Contact Usto request a callback, follow these steps:



    • Step 1 ----Select Xbox One
    • Step 2 ----Select See other options
    • Step 3 ----Select topic
    • Step 4 ----Select "Show contact options"
    • Step 5 ----Select request a call from support

    Once they call, explain the issue and they will be able to help you.

    My controller is all up to date according to my Xbox, and my controller is only a week or two old, and the audio was working yesterday, are you sure I need to replace it?

    Short answer, yes. The actual hardware might've gone bad (3.5 mm jack) so we would actually suggest
    Requesting a Callback from one of our Xbox Support Specialists since they are the best equipped (tool wise) to look into the warranty of the controller to look into a possible
    replacement of the controller. We appreciate the patience but please give it a shot and let us know how it goes!
