Official Xbox one media remote being assigned to one console?

    Hi,

My girlfriend and I have our TVs and Xbox’s right next to each other so we can both game on the same couch. We watch plex and Netflix on my xbox since it’s hooked up to the better TV but it’s becoming infuriating that every time I hit the Xbox button on
the media remote it turns her console on, meaning that if I want to switch from plex to Netflix it’s going to involve turning off her Xbox every time. Is there any setting on her console that can block functionality from the media remote? If not cmon Xbox,
I know you want things to be “seamless” but this is asinine.

    :)

Xbox One Official Media Remote is now VERY slow

The Official media remote is now working really slow after the new experience update. It looks like you have purposely put a delay on the time the xbox one can receive an IR signal. This makes the official media remote incredibly tedious. Also not being
able to hold the xbox button on the remote for 3 seconds to turn off the console is incredibly annoying. As it currently stands the xbox one official media remote has become like a brick.

Where is it best to repost this problem so you guys can address this issue. I'm pretty sure its a simple fix that has been overlooked.

The media remote is not currently compatible with every app. As stated on its official support page, not every 3rd party app currently supports it. It sounds like YouTube is one of them. You'll have to wait on an update to the YouTube app to support remote
    compatibility.

    Hi

I have not seen an option in the menus on the console that allows you to disable the Xbox One media remote. As the remote uses

    IR technology
to control your console you could try repositioning one of the consoles to see if this stops it from being controlled by the remote.

It may also be worth posting this on the
    Xbox Ideas website
to try to get this feature added to the console.

    XBOX One Remote Control

    There's already the
    Xbox One Media Remote
, and you could also already use your smartphone as a remote for the Xbox (with the free, official Xbox App).

The latter option pops up your smartphone's keyboard whenever text input is needed on the Xbox.

Having trouble getting the new Xbox 360 Media Remote to work with my Xbox 360 console.

If this is the first time you've had/used an Xbox 360 Media Remote, you have to go to System Settings > Remote Control and change the setting from either "Windows Media Center" or "Both" (depending on which version of the Xbox Console you have) to "Xbox
Remote". For some reason, the default setting is the WRONG one. That's most likely what's causing your remote to not work.

If you ALREADY have it set to "Xbox Remote" and it still doesn't work, you may have a defective remote if it's an official Microsoft Xbox 360 Media Remote.

If it's a 3rd Party remote, made by a different brand, in all likelihood you've wasted your money on a remote that doesn't actually work for the Xbox 360. The only 3rd party remote I recommend and will vouch for is a very hard to find European model, the
Snakebyte Media Remote. It's the only one that gets good reviews. When I wanted a black Xbox 360 Media Remote with Backlit Keys, I tracked one down on eBay, and I can personally attest that it works every bit as well as the official Microsoft
remotes. But good luck finding one, they are very scarce right now. I consider myself very lucky to have managed to track one down. ^_^

    Console to Computer

You can use one of Xbox Media Remote (officially there's 3 of them) devices if you have, or a keyboard works too.
