    "We are unable to sync your data with the cloud at the moment." error when syncing save data


    I'm getting this error when I try and start Gears 5 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I understand that this is in the 'known issues' thread, but I have followed the troubleshooting steps in that thread to no avail. I haven't made any changes to my Microsoft account recently, so I doubt that is the issue. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so have you resolved it? I have searched all day for answers on this site and others, but I just cannot seem to find a solution.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with being able to recover your save data.

    Are you receiving any error messages when you were attempting to sync your save data?

    Did you recently relocate your console to an area where you are unable to connect to Xbox Live?

    Are you sure your signed into the same account that had all this save data?

    If you haven't already, I would recommend taking a look at the article that covers

    and see if these scenarios help you with recovering your save data.

    Thank you for taking the time to reply to this thread.

    If you experienced any "Syncing data" menu when loading up your game, it is possible that the data could have been overwritten or not synced correctly.

    At this point it is possible that you could attempt to recover your save data, by forcing your game to re-sync your save data by

    removing and re-adding your account
    back onto you console.

    However, if you received any error messages when syncing your data, you could take a look at the article that covers

    Keep in mind that if you are unable to recover your world using either of these methods, it is likely that you will be unable to recover your world.

    I'm sorry about any confusion or turmoil this might have caused.

    When starting a game offline and the sync data loads, could it retrieve my data to keep going?

    You have to be online to sync data with the cloud. Your local save is always saved to your console. If you don't sync to the internet when you haven't in a while, if you somehow lose your saved data you can not sync it back, but you rather get the last synced
    data sent to the cloud.

    Your saved games data is stored in the cloud as well as the HDD if you delete the saved games data from HDD by accident it will sync from the cloud, at the moment there is a service alert which could be causing your problem.
