Xbox 360 Slim won't boot up

My Xbox 360 Slim was working fine one day. The next day, however, it wouldn't boot up; all I hear are the cooling fans and the green dot on the power button was on. There were no green or red rings, and my controller won't connect. My TV screen was blank
and there was no sound. I tried unplugging and plugging my HDMI cable and power cord back in with no result. I also tried using the AV cord. No luck there either. Finally, I tried removing my HDD then booting it up. Nothing still. What is the problem, and
if so, is there a solution? Thanks.

    :)

    Xbox won't boot up

I'll try to be as detailed as possible. I've gone through all the basic troubleshooting steps and haven't had any luck. Hopefully someone here will have some advice.

I have an original Xbox One that stopped working all of a sudden. When I turn it on my TV gives me a "No Signal" message. I initially thought the HDMI cable, or even the port on the Xbox had gone bad. I tried different cables and different TVs. I eventually
discovered that if I just left the Xbox on, after about three minutes the "No Signal" message would go away and the screen would just be black. After five minutes of black screen it finally goes to the green
    Xbox screen
and shows the loading animation. I've tried leaving it on that screen for over an hour, but it doesn't get past it.

I've gone through the troubleshooting flows on the Xbox Support page. I've tried factory resetting it with a flash drive. The steps say to hold the Bind and Eject Disc button while powering the console on, and that the Xbox should make two beeping sounds
and then go to the reset screen. I can only get it to beep once, and the boot process continues like I described above, eventually reaching the green screen.

This doesn't seem like the typical black screen of death that I've read about. My understanding is that typically comes after the green screen. It seems more like my issue is that the Xbox is taking too long to boot up. I'm not exaggerating when I say it
takes about 8 minutes to reach the green screen. It's almost like it's not registering my input while I hold the buttons down to try and reset it.

Am I doing something wrong? I'd really like to get this fixed without having to send it in for repairs.

xbox 360 slim slow boot up

    Greetings doubletap!

If you haven't already, start clearing your Xbox system cache. This will remove temporary files from the system cache. Here's how!

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
    2. Select Storage or Memory.
    3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
    4. Select Clear System Cache.

Check for contents that are related to games and profiles on your Xbox storage device if any of these might have become corrupted/damaged. Corrupted/damaged contents is shown as an yellow exclamation mark.

Sounds odd. You didn't change any settings did you? Anyways, how long did you have your console unplugged for? You might want to try unplugging everything for a while and re-hooking it back up. Also, make sure your power brick isn't overheating, it'll show
a red light if it is.

If it's your power brick. Make sure it's in a well ventilated area, where the vents will not be blocked. The same goes for your 360.

If nothing works, I suggest getting your console repaired. If it's under warranty, you should be able to get a free repair, if not, it'll cost you to get a repair. Call xbox support about the problem.

xbox 360 slim not booting up

Had the same problem. Thinking my Xbox 'went out' the next day I went an bought a refurb 360 Slim to replace it.. Within minutes it too went "out". I was in a panic then thinking I had burnt out the new one. So after messing with it awhile and not being
able to figure out why it would not start I unplugged it and plugged it in a different plug-in and it came on! So I went and got the old one, plugged it in. It too started up. Nothing wrong. What I found out was my surge protector had a bad plug in. All the
rest of them worked except the one that I had the 360 plugged in to. I know it is a long shot and this is an old post, but thought I would mention it, even if it does seem silly. One never knows who might be looking at this link and needs a solution. I found
    out the hard way!

    Hi there,

Been a while since last post but here's a contribution.

I had the exact same problem as Abroadl describes above.

When I turned on the console (worked by either touching the power button on the console or holding the Guide button on one of the controllers) the power button on the console lights up green, disc inside starts spinning etc. The lights on the controller
flashes once/sec and after awhile they both go dark and silent.

Turned out there was something wrong with my hdmi connection, i'm using a hdmi-to-dvi connector and it didn't hook up properly. Not sure if this helps, but who knows.

    Hey there Abroadl,

It may sound silly but are you sure that you're on the correct input for your TV?

    • Are you able to turn on your console by holding the Guide button on your controller?
    • Have you tried resyncing your controller?
You may also want to try holding RT + Y as you boot up your console.

Please let us know and we'll go from there.

Hey Rock. Does it boot up if you have the HDD removed? Also, when it's powered on, what is the color of the light on the power supply? Let us know, and we can go from there.
