    I’ve
downloaded the Media Player on my Xbox One so I can set a custom background. I’ve looked at some websites on how to stream my music/photos/videos via my computer but I’m still a bit confused. I’ve turned on media streaming on my computer and allowed it to
connect to my Xbox. I’ve put pictures into files on “Windows Media Player”. I’ve read that it will appear in my Xbox One’s Media Player app as an option allowing me to browse and stream media files stored in my media libraries, but when I open the Media Player
app, there’s no pictures in any of the files.

    :)

Xbox One will be supporting DLNA on it's media player app with the upcoming October dashboard update, so this should be possible without problems.

It's already possible to stream media towards the One with the windows media player, but with the next update the One will be able to browse for DLNA servers within the network it's connected to.

    DNLA media Player

My Xbox doesn't even detect my PC. When I launch the media player app, I get the message that I have to connect to a DLNA server or USB drive to view media. If I launch my Xbox 360's media app, I see my desktop's DLNA server in addition to the Plex server
I'm running. This is using the same network cable for both the 360 and the Xbox One.

Media Player Not showing MKV files.

What media server are you using to stream to the XBox One? I have tried Plex, XBMC, TVersity, TWonky and even Windows Media Player and the xbox one sees the servers and folders but says they are empty. Just wondering if' I'm not using a supported DLNA server.
    HELP Please.

Media Player Not showing MKV files.

For Win7/8 to read and send MKV, the underlying DLNA Digital Media Server needs to know how to read and advertise the MKV format.

The Xbox One October update only affects the console, and not your Windows PC.

While the Windows Media Player can be setup as a DNLA Server (via "Turn on media streaming.."), your version of Windows is not able to read and advertise MKV as media available to the Xbox One. As pointed out in the thread, you'll need a DLNA server on your
    media PC.

Without endorsing one DLNA server software over another, this is a good thread to read to understand the required steps:

Access my iMac photos / iTunes music on Xbox one?

I wish they'd just include DLNA streaming on Xbox one - then you could stream from iTunes, a NAS media server, or whatever.
